Meet Little Buddy

I’m on a quest to find the products that are best for my 3-year-old son, Little Buddy or LB, that will aid in giving him healthy hair. Also, I was having a hard time finding styles that didn’t require a lot of time (he’s active…..VERY active) and also looked nice.

I have had a picture of Jaden Smith and his hair in my head since my son was still in the womb. I have come to terms with the fact that his hair will never look like that due to his texture being different and that’s okay. His hair is gorgeous!

I had a brief lapse of peer (read: family) pressure to cut his hair once he turned two. I was emotional but he took it like a trooper and even fell asleep in the barber’s chair. He had a good 5 inches removed from his tiny little head and I vowed never to cut it again (or until a day comes where he wants his hair cut).

In the mean time I have been twisting, coiling, washing and going and recently tried my hands at braiding. It’s all about experimenting. What works for one kid may not work for another but it doesn’t hurt to try.

This first image is LB “Pre-Haircut”. This was actually taken days before the cut.

This next image is about one month after the cut during a trip to Disney World. You can see that his hair wasn’t quite curling up (even in the water) due to the hack job of the barber.

This is a wash and go done for Christmas 2010. His hair reached about his shoulders when stretched.

Follow LB’s hair adventures on Hair and Heart and let us know of any tips and tricks that you use. It’s all about sharing information.  Thanks for reading!

  1. He is too cute. I too have had the same issues with my sons hair. I am going to try coiling his hair with whipped shea.
