Dapper Don

If any of my readers have noticed, I love to dress LB in a sort of “messy-preppy” style. Fall is right around the corner so blazers, cardigans, polos, funky sneakers and cool graphic tees will be in daily rotation.

He is a slim kid so I like things that fit him properly without being tight. A lot of places that specialize in children’s clothing such as The Children’s Place don’t offer the right proportions for kids his size.

So, I usually shop at places such as H&M, Zara and Crew Cuts that offer clothing for a “slimmer” child. I’m not a fan of the tight pants look for boys, but to each their own.

It seems like layering is whats “in” this season. This is great in that you can continue to use some of your son’s summer pieces, like short sleeved polos, in the cooler months.

I was recently on the Crew Cuts website and came across several very cool, very stylish, very LB outfits that I thought I would share. Crew Cuts is in the upper echelon of my price range, but the looks can be put together from items bought elsewhere. Read on to check them out.*

Ralph Lauren Goes Curly: Spotting

Source: Ralph Lauren

I love Ralph Lauren and often dress LB in pieces from his collection. I recently saw an ad on Facebook featuring their new collection and decided to take a peek. Guess what I saw; a curly cutie BOY (above) as one of the models!

The RL Gang were very versatile which I loved and actually wrote a letter to JCrew recently over their lack of such. Anyway, click any of the images in this post to be taken to the site and watch a cool video storybook  Ralph Lauren put together which is narrated by John Legend!

I was not asked to advertise for Ralph Lauren, I visited the site on my own accord.

I love t-shirts with inspiring messages. I also love organic cotton touching my son’s skin. Combine those two and what do you get? Tiny Revolutionary. They specialize in creating t-shirts with uplifting messages while raising awareness of various causes. Their philosophy:

It’s pretty simple, really – teaching kids to celebrate their individuality and approach the world with a compassionate spirit and sense of social responsibility is one of our very best opportunities to make the world a better place. A lot of us have spent our fair share of years on the corner, holding a picket sign wondering if we were really making an impact on anyone. And some of us have decided that maybe, just maybe, it might be easier to start from scratch – to put down the picket sign and pick up the bottle!

Style Files: Cocoa Babies, Part II

I told you guys when I received my order from Cocoa Babies I would show you a picture of LB in the shirt. First off let me tell you how great they’re customer service is! One of the shirts I ordered was not in stock and they promptly notified me of this and I was able to choose another shirt with no problem. The shirts themselves are super soft and comfy. I found that the 3T runs a little small. Also, the shirts arrived ridiculously fast! He will be wearing his “Destined for Greatness” Tee to school tomorrow. Check him out, stylin’ and profilin’.

Refer to This post for information on Cocoa Babies.

The Style Files: NewsBoy (and Girl) Caps

I don’t know about you guys, but newsboy (or driver) caps are, in my opinion, one of the absolute cutest head accessory for both girls and boys. They can be worn for style purposes or in my case, to cover up a subpar braid job. They come in an array of colors, textures, and finishes. I have searched high and low for a new one for LB and see that my only option to find exactly what I want is online. He currently has a tan colored corduroy cap, as seen below. He is growing out of it, but the style of the cap looks so cute that I have to get a replacement.

Link Love: Small Magazine

Small Magazine is an online publication that features art, fashion and articles about children. There isn’t an “About Us” section to further emphasize exactly what the magazine is about, but the images are nothing short of breathtaking. It is so appealing to the eye and whimsical, you just might lose track of time for a few minutes…..or hours. Also inside the magazine are fun activities that are not your run of the mill paper bag puppets. They also feature some curly child models such as the lovely kids below.
